The 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade will feature its first entry inspired by a president, as the Reagan Presidential Foundation celebrates Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday by building a float dedicated to him. The former president was born on February 6, 1911.
The 55-foot long and 26-foot high float will be covered with 11 photos depicting memorable Reagan moments. Each float in the Tournament of Roses Parade must be made from natural materials, and the black-and-white "photos" will be made out of poppy seeds and rice.
Sculptures of Reagan and a bald eagle will be featured on the float and it will also be adorned with 65,000 red roses. Reagan named red roses America's national flower in 1986.
