States that look like safe bets for Barack Obama this November also have some of the nation's highest gasoline prices at the pump. Maybe it's all part of feeling green.
Do liberal voters actually like shelling out four bucks or more for regular? It almost seems that way looking at gasoline prices across the U.S.
With a few exceptions, the cheapest gas is to be found in some of the most solidly Republican states, like Wyoming, Oklahoma and Utah. The highest prices are almost all in states that look to be safely in President Obama's corner.
If pain at the pump is a liability for an incumbent, then Obama must be leading a charmed life. Blue-staters paying more for gas may or may not be loving it, but they're not hating Obama over it.
As the San Francisco Chronicle has noted, "Obama's electoral map to victory bears a remarkable resemblance to a map of the nation's highest gas prices."
